APPLYING FOR A MPA DEGREE

Admission Requirements

IIT requires a bachelor's degree conferred with a minimum undergraduate cumulative GPA of 3.0/4.0 (or its equivalent) from an accredited institution for regular admission.

GRE: Not Required.

Please note that meeting the minimum GPA requirements does not guarantee admission.

Application Materials

Please follow these instructions carefully.

The following documents must be completed and submitted to the Graduate Admissions Office before a decision can be made on your admission to the Program:

  1. An Application for Graduate Admission Form , which you can submit online (preferable to submitting a paper application) at: https://iit-grad.gotoextinguisher.com/application/login/iitgrad_index.php (you will need to register for a username and password, login and then follow the directions given for completing the appropriate application).

  2. A Professional Statement of at least two typewritten double-spaced pages, in which you should:
    1. State your understanding of what Public Administration involves.
    2. Explain your reasons for pursuing an advanced degree in Public Administration.
    3. Provide a summary of your professional life, highlighting your skills and what you consider to have been important influences and experiences.
    4. Indicate your professional goals and how you believe a MPA degree will help you attain your goals.

  3. An Official Transcript from each undergraduate and graduate institution that you have attended. The best way to obtain an official transcript is to have your former educational institution send it directly to Graduate Admissions Office at the address listed below.

  4. Two (2) completed and signed Recommendation Forms or Letters from former professors or, for those applicants who have been working for some time, from current or former supervisors who have reason to know your capabilities in terms of your skills, character and potential for graduate study. (You may use the Pre-Printed Recommendation Forms or have your recommender send a typewritten letter on their letterhead.)

  5. A $40 Graduate Application Fee. This fee is non-refundable. No fee is required from students who have previously applied to IIT and paid an application fee. For your convenience, the application fee can be paid online at: https://secure.assurebuy.com/90170/90170.htm
